well that's how it seems.
As previously mentioned, they wanted to start chemo last Friday the 20th... we opted out of it citing that Emmah was feeling well and it was only recently she was feeling well... well enough to almost be and seem like pre-cancer Emmah. So yes... bossy ;) and we wanted to wait until after the holiday. She also had made plans to see the new movie New Moon with her friends.
So in typical Gudeman "luck" almost the moment we declined to start chemo on the 20th (and defer until after the holiday) the very next day she woke up feeling "not so hot". Stomach and headache... and some discomfort in her back kind of akin to October. Didn't we just do this? Anyway, like clockwork I send an email to the nurse practitioner stating that we wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving and that we'd be in contact with them on Tuesday (as in this coming) December 1st and the next day...
For an immediate lack of having anything better lined up, we will be doing another round (of chemo) and hopefully only one more. Our hope is two things. One is that going through this again will have the same effect on her as the last time and it will "buy us some time" for getting our ducks in a row. Two... that the said effects will be long enough lasting to get us through the next coming holiday(s). It should.
As this weekend has wore on (we are in Wisconsin for our tree cutting expedition) the pain and discomfort is becoming more of a presence and with it more "tension" in an already tense situation with regards to her health.
We are making the best of our situation as it is. We tried a new tree farm (all the way up to Madison... actually Middleton) either way it's about an hours drive from where we are staying here in Delavan... near Lake Geneva. It's becoming somewhat reminiscent of Ohio, but she's still able to get around... albeit walking around like poor man's Groucho Marx. I suspect that in some ways, the end of this weekend (Monday) can't come fast enough for Julie. At the same time... there's a part of this that could wait forever.
SIGH...
In spite of the fates intervention... it hasn't been all bad. The weather for tree cutting today was really nice.
Here are some photos to this point;

At times unwanted, but often are we uncomfortably thrust into living with it. To borrow part of a line from the movie Heartbreak Ridge, "You adapt, you overcome"...
In memory of Emmah ~ KEIYH
A small request... please
I have a small request and it won't take up much of your time.
Now that Emmah's spirit has left her physical body behind and has completed it's journey "home" I would very much like if you could all take a moment and reflect on Emmah... whether you knew her personally or not. Let us know how she touched/affected or made a difference in your life.
I especially would like to hear from those of you who know/knew her, what your fondest memory or memories of her are. Funny stories and what you remember her likes and dislikes to be (no matter what they are) and what word/words you would use to describe her.
In order to keep all of those thoughts in one place, please, please use this link only for this purpose only.
Thank-you
KEIYH

Looks like you picked another good tree. Sorry to hear that Emmah is not feeling so hot.
Loved the pics. Could you send me the pics taken here at my house and the one with the whole family by the chosen tree. Have a safe trip home.
Luv, Mom
