Undetermined...
Kind of feel like Carnac the Magnificent
Wait a minute, what was the question?
Oh yeah... the question... Question - then answer.
Q. What is the result of Emmah's MIBG scan(s)?
A. Envelope please... uh... ummm... undetermined.
Say what?
Seems that the problem isn't with the scans themselves, they were clear and all that, it has something to do with a spot behind the bladder and the interpretation of said spot. That and how does this scan compare to the most recent previous one... the one from February?
Okay, so let's just have a look... oops, seems that we don't have the last MIBG scan results.
Somehow when we asked Hope to get all the scans/reports up to the point of starting Emmah's care with Dr. Cohn to Dr. Cohn, they didn't send the February MIBG.
Ahhhh... good thunder storm going on... lots of lightning... good for the grass because lightning releases nitrogen into the air and nitrogen make plants/grass green. Nature's fertilizer.
Sorry... back to Emmah.
Okay, so it seems that U of C doesn't have the most recent (previous) MIBG scan to compare to this one. They need it since this scan is showing a small uptake behind the bladder and they want to see if it's in the same spot as the little bit of uptake from the last one. Although... uptake in the colon (which sits behind the bladder) is a known area of uptake. The normal spots of uptake are the salivary glands, the liver, bladder, spleen, and it also can be seen in the colon. So they want to compare the two most recent MIBGs to see what's what.
The thing that Julie and I find odd is how could Dr. Cohn make a recommended treatment plan without first seeing the February MIBG? In any event, they say they don't have it and so we need to get it to them. Once that happens and they can compare the two, then we will hopefully have a better answer and a more solid plan going forward. Of course upon hearing the answer, that may just probably ummm... open up just a "few" more questions.
Other than that little unknown... Dr. Cohn said the scan looked fantastic.
SO... the real answer will have to wait for another day.
... or four or five.

At times unwanted, but often are we uncomfortably thrust into living with it. To borrow part of a line from the movie Heartbreak Ridge, "You adapt, you overcome"...
In memory of Emmah ~ KEIYH
A small request... please
I have a small request and it won't take up much of your time.
Now that Emmah's spirit has left her physical body behind and has completed it's journey "home" I would very much like if you could all take a moment and reflect on Emmah... whether you knew her personally or not. Let us know how she touched/affected or made a difference in your life.
I especially would like to hear from those of you who know/knew her, what your fondest memory or memories of her are. Funny stories and what you remember her likes and dislikes to be (no matter what they are) and what word/words you would use to describe her.
In order to keep all of those thoughts in one place, please, please use this link only for this purpose only.
Thank-you
KEIYH
