Perhaps it's this type of fuzzy math that has put us (the U.S.) in the financial toilet that it's currently in. There is an email circulating saying that the money used to bailout AIG should be divvied up among us Americans who are 18 or older instead of going to AIG... it would be known as the We Deserve It Dividend. It goes on to state that the money could be used to get everyone out of their own personal financial holes.
Sounds like a brilliant idea, give it to the ones who ultimately are the ones getting screwed every way to Sunday since we will be the ones ultimately paying it back. Sounds fantastic to me, who couldn't use some extra money these days? To the person, or persons, who are the brainchild/brainchildren of the grandiose idea, and to those salivating over the idea of getting $425,000 ($297,500 after taxes) you might want to hold the phone, the pen or whatever device you planned on using to tell the powers that be to not give the money to AIG, but to give the money to 'me'.
Before you start getting your undies all in bunch, you might want to take off your shoes to crunch the numbers. There seems to be a shortage of zeros, and I don't mean zeros of the human kind either, we have plenty of them.
First let's start by simplifying this little equation... $85,000,000,000 divided by their estimation of 200,000,000 people 18+. Take away eight zeros from both numbers and we are left with 850 divided by 2. 425... right? Sounds okay... 425 is easy enough to get to 425,000 with... just add some more zeros.
That is exactly the thing that we need to do in the first place, to the $85,000,000,000... it needs more zeros. Three more to be exact... $85,000,000,000,000 divided by 200,000,000 IS $425,000 and a hefty sum to dream about getting.
$85,000,000,000 divided by 200,000,000 is merely $425.00.
You might want to cancel that new car you just ordered since if we implemented this little fantasy plan, you could ill afford to buy a new TV with it.
It probably was an AIG accountant who's not smarter than a 5th grader that came up with this.
Consider your bubble busted!
Have a nice day...
At times unwanted, but often are we uncomfortably thrust into living with it. To borrow part of a line from the movie Heartbreak Ridge, "You adapt, you overcome"...
In memory of Emmah ~ KEIYH
A small request... please
I have a small request and it won't take up much of your time.
Now that Emmah's spirit has left her physical body behind and has completed it's journey "home" I would very much like if you could all take a moment and reflect on Emmah... whether you knew her personally or not. Let us know how she touched/affected or made a difference in your life.
I especially would like to hear from those of you who know/knew her, what your fondest memory or memories of her are. Funny stories and what you remember her likes and dislikes to be (no matter what they are) and what word/words you would use to describe her.
In order to keep all of those thoughts in one place, please, please use this link only for this purpose only.
Thank-you
KEIYH

Hey,
Fire on Saturday :( ....Math on Sunday...I'll just have to trust that your math is correct :), because this brain just does not even want to bother figuring out some figures that are a moot point anyway! Hope the Pres., congress and senate can come up with something to bail out this sorry A_ _ thing that they want to call the economy!
Luv, Mom
P.S. Looks like you need to keep a fire extinguisher handy.
